A Canadian research study confirms that consumers using an Ecofan with their wood stoves can save 15 per cent in wood fuel costs. The company highlights the fact that Caframo Limited is based in Canada and known worldwide for innovations in home comfort products. The Ecofan is a patented stove top fan that generates its own power from the heat of a wood stove. Ecofans use thermo-electric technology to convert heat energy from the wood stove into electricity to operate the fan. There is no need for other electrical power or batteries. Ecofans circulate the warm air generated by a wood stove and make the home feel more comfortable while using less wood fuel. The Ecofan runs silently and is self regulating. Earlier this year researchers from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Waterloo collaborated with Caframo on a scientific study to measure the reduction in firewood needed to maintain a comfortable temperature with the use of an Ecofan. The tests were repeated with and without an Ecofan to compare firewood usage. The study showed that Ecofans can save consumers 15 per cent in the wood fuel they burn. This allows consumers to reduce their annual heatings costs while feeling good about saving our natural resources and reducing carbon emissions, which has a positive impact on the environment we all share. Ecofans have been sold for 15 years in North America through DIY retailers such as Home Depot, Lowe’s and Do It Best, and are now available in Europe as well. www.caframo.com
